Athletic Facility Reconstruction
Worcester, Massachusetts

As an associate with Geller Associates, Christian Huntress provided master plan, design, permitting, and construction administration services for this new $2.1 million outdoor athletic facility. The facility features an eight-lane, 400-meter polyurethane track, artificial turf field, 1600-seat grandstand with pressbox, sports lighting, concessions and storage areas, as well as pedestrian and vehicular circulation. The design meets the requirements of the American's with Disabilities Act (ADA) as well as the criteria for competition established by the NCAA. After successful completion in the fall of 1998, the project has become the host site for the Bay State Games, Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Soccer and Football Championships, and dozens of other local and state athletic events.
